Katsuya had been in my radar since they opened their doors. I’ve been waiting for the opening so long, so I made sure to pay them a visit the day they opened their doors on Dec 9th.
Katsuya was first born in Hollywood, Los Angeles by the celebrity interior designer Philippe Starck and Master Sushi Chef Katsuya and established by the entertainment group SBE and brought to the Middle East by AlShaya group.
Katsuya’s represent a Japanese kanji symbol “Katsu” which means “victory” or “to win”. The moment you enter be prepared to be welcomed by the staff “irashaimase”.Katsuya has Cool and bright decor with Outstanding outdoor seating perfect spot at this weather of the year here in Dubai. Katsuya has three themed kitchens serving unique rolls in the sushi bar , hot kitchen such as their legendary Bob sizzler plus their robata grill kitchen where they serve traditional japanese style charcoal grills, with cocktail bar section where they serve specialty and unique drinks such as their award winning drink the burning mandarin which is a blend of hand-crushed jalapeno, fresh lemon and orange juice with a splash of cranberry.
When it comes to Katsuya menu, they have wide selection of items to pick and experience, I highly recommend to visit Katsuya for several times to get the chance of ordering all of their innovative food. I will list below all what I have experience through my journey at Katsuya:

Crispy Soft-Shell Crab: Tempura soft-shell crab served with tartar sauce and chili ponzu.
Spicy Edamame: Sweet, salty and spicy.
Corn Tempura:Corn fritters with smokey chipotle aïoli.
Sautéed Shishito Peppers
Stuffed Eggplant: very creative dish! Albacore and almonds in a sweet miso glaze, served in a hollow eggplant.[FAV]
Chicken Karaage: The Japanese way of fried crispy chicken
Crispy Chicken Salad :Asian salad mixed with rice noodles, wonton crisps and shredded chicken, served with a plum vinaigrette.
Mushroom Salad Warm sautéed Japanese mushrooms served on a bed of butter-lettuce. [FAV] The muschrooms reminded me of the Smurfs cartoon 😉

All in all I can sum up with confidence that whenever I visit Katsuya, i never ordered
something and it didn’t impress me & I always leave wanting to come back again for their authentic & Innovative food experience.
