On Dec 2013 one of my insta followers announced about the launch of Wingsters, since then I listed the place in my to go list. Until last month when I received an invitation in instagram from the owner itself so made my mind to check out the place.
Wingsters is the first Buffalo chicken wings specialized restaurant in Dubai. Owned and established by the friendliest owner and down to earth Mr. Ahmed Hasan. Wingsters offers wings with flavors to satisfy everyone taste buds. There are about 16 sauces and more to come soon as I have been informed. Every time I ordered the wings, they were served crispy from outside, fresh and tender from inside!! The atmosphere was fun, casual and themed with movies gangsters theme and Mr.Ahmed will explain below in my short interview with him more about the theme. And It was about time when the place made me go back again and again.
My Experience with Wingesters Menu:
Call me crazy but I really got hooked up with Wingesters burgers, they are literary made for Burgers Lover. I have built my own burgers several times with no regrets 😉
ُTheir new addition burger the tommi gun is not to be missed, defiantly a mouthwatering fried chicken patty glazed with their buffalo sauce.
If you are into creamy stuff order alfredo sauce as a topping for your burger with sautéed mushrooms 😉
When it comes to the wings:
Don’t miss Wingesters buffalo version of the chicken wings. My Fav!
If you want to try something new go for the instigator chicken wings, it has this tangy pomegranate or as we call it in arabic dibs alrmaan دبس الرمان
If you are spicy fan, order the Al Capone sauce with Mobster level of spice. The founder fav & their most seller.
If you don’t do spicy, then go for sweet BBQ one of my fav as well.
The sweet potato fries were so good and a great addition to the hot wings or even to the burger, as well as their new addition the fresh mozzarella sticks.
If you want to try something new ask for the classic fries topped with parmesan cheese. Not included in the menu though but you can go creative and ask for it.
Don’t forget to end your meal with their fresh fluffy waffles , crepe or shakes. I have built mine several times with so many goodies such as Digestive , Nutella , Ferrero Rocher and the list goes on.
Below is my interview with Mr. Ahmad Hasan the founder of Wingsters Restaurant :
1-Can you please tell us a little about yourself ?
I’m Ahmed Hassan, 29 years old, British-Iraqi and have lived in Dubai for 4.5 years. From a young age I have been fascinated with food & cooking, I spent a lot of time in the Kitchen learning how to cook from my mum and also watched many hours of cooking shows. I envied the life of the traveling TV chef’s. I wanted to pursue a career as a chef but having 2 traditional Arab parents that idea didn’t get any support, so I followed a business management and finance career, which I still work in till now. I’m a huge foodie and die hard wings addict 🙂
2-What gave you the idea of Wingsters ?
Anywhere I go, whether my parents house for lunch/dinner or to a friends for food or even when I cook, and there is roast chicken of some sort, I am the first to take the wings and then the breast, there has been some falling out with family members over this technique 🙂 I have always loved wings and when I came to Dubai there was no place that could truly satisfy my wings addiction so I thought why not follow my passion for cooking and love for wings and open a wings place. The theme and concept came together very well as its unique, hasn’t been done before in Dubai and is quite funky.
3-Tell us more about the challenges you have faced while setting up Wingsters & being a restaurant owner ?
Where do I start, setting up a restaurant is not easy, especially in a country where is rules and regulations are unfamiliar to you, there are so many things that you need to consider. I faced challenges with the contractor and making sure that the work being done was as agreed. The main difficulty came from there not being a clear system of requirements from the government bodies, therefore a lot of time was spent and wasted going back and forth doing tasks that were required by them but were not initially communicated.
4-What is your favorite sauce and what do you mostly recommend from your menu ? you have to pick 1 😉 ?
No hesitation here, my favorite is the Al Capone sauce with Mobster level of spice. I really like the infusion between the fresh garlic paste we make and the spice we use, plus its the sauce that took us the longer to perfect 🙂
5-What advice can you give to those who would like to open a restaurant of their own and make their dream come true ?
Be persistent and don’t let anything stop you or anyone tell you that you can’t do it. BUT make sure you do your research and have an understanding of the regulations and requirements and be weary of cowboy contractors
6-What prompted you to choose this theme (Gangsters) ?
I wanted to have a theme that was different and one which hasn’t been done in UAE, I chose the mafia theme as it allows customers to connect back to their younger years when they first watched films like ‘The Godfather’ and ‘Goodfellas’ and enjoy that moment. Also who doesn’t know a few lines or characters from these great film.
